Vehicle Hit Indicator (VHI) The Vehicle Hit Indicator (VHI) is mounted on the vehicle (or targets like buildings, bunkers, etc.) and provides for both:
During combat exercises, the weapons are fitted with Transmitters (Projectors) which are activated to fire coded laser beams which are recorded by the VHI and RLDMs fitted to the target with the help of mounting brackets provided. The VHI has four quadrants of laser detectors to receive the coded laser beams. Also, the VHI and the RLDMs have radio antennas to receive RF signals from the ‘detonated’ LMESS mine simulators and communicate amongst themselves. The CVTESS VHI is fitted with an optional GPS allowing for the recording of location data during the exercises (such as where the event occurs). |

Exercise events data recorded during the exercise is stored in the VHI and downloaded by the UCG and transferred to the CAS for after-action-review. For VHIs used as part of the CTC application, the VPU fitted to the VHI transmits events in real-time to the remote EXCON. |
